How To Apply For Grants
The Cupburger Mutual Aid Fund exists to redistribute resources within our community, quickly, directly, and without strings, so the people we care about can get the support they deserve. At Cupburger, we intentionally don’t means-test or monitor how recipients use the fund. We trust that people know what they need better than any institution does. Any member of our Twitch community can apply, using the process and guidelines outlined below.
You can apply for a Cupburger Mutual Aid grant by visiting our Open Collective page: opencollective.com/cupburger
Visit our Grant Policy page for detailed information about how we make decisions.
Please read our detailed Grant Guide below for full information on how to apply.
Our Grant Guide
You can apply for funds of up to £50 every month. These should be paid out if you have given us the information detailed below and we have the funds available. If we don’t have funds available we may offer you a smaller amount, or ask you to reapply at a later date.
For larger needs we also have some emergency grants available up to £150 a month. These are currently limited by our available funds and we may ask you to reapply for a smaller amount or apply again at a later date.
We are not currently taking requests for grants over £150, but we are working on Projects to do this in future, and will update as soon as we have more information.
To apply for a grant, visit our Open Collective page, then select REQUEST GRANT.

You may be asked to either sign in or create an account at this point. You will need to create an account to request a grant.

Once you have created an account, before you apply you may want to check that your full legal name is not set as your display name.
To do this click the circular profile icon on the top right of the Open Collective page, then select SETTINGS in the drop-down menu. This will open your info page.

Make sure you are happy with the Display Name you have set here (as this will display on the public page). You Legal Name will only be visible to admins.
Once you are happy with any changes, press save at the bottom of the page, return to the main page, and select REQUEST GRANT to submit your application.
One the first Grant application page select Request Grant, then complete the form below with your location and payment information. Your display name will be indicated in the Who is being paid for this expense? field. If you are unhappy with the current display name, please update it using the instructions above before submitting your request.
Payment details and other personal information is kept private.

Once you have completed these fields press Next to add further information.
The grant subject and description you enter here will be visible to the public, along with the amount requested and your display name.
To speed up the process please include your twitch username the name of a member of the Twitch community who could vouch for you if needed here.

Once you have completed these fields you will be shown a Grant Summary. You can either edit the request or submit once you are happy with all the details.
We check submissions twice per week, and aim to respond within 3 working days. Payments are made twice per week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.
