I imagine if you’ve been in more than one stream in our community you’ve seen Llama. Whether they’re filling the chat with Limmy laugh emotes or immediately banning someone with a questionable name they are a beloved and vital member of the twitch community. Llama is, in many ways, the backbone of community wide modding, keeping us all up to date with who’s a wrongun and helping make educated decisions on difficult times. But to me, and many others, Llamachan (formerly Gaming) is much more than a purple name in chat with a green hammer. They’re a friend, they’re family.
Llama has been living with terrible pain in their hips for years now, years and years. This pain has left them having to sleep to get through the day for long stretches. The continued pain has cost them a great deal of time out doing the things they love. Seeing birds. Looking at birds. Eating Taco Bell. Looking at a bird while eating Taco Bell. It’s also taken their ability to maintain a job away, their ability to see friends in the real world away. The pain has kept Llama indoors.
We have an opportunity to make a real difference, not just in the quality of comfort they have, but in their freedom. With the surgery paid off we can let one of the best of us have an opportunity to walk outside into the sun and see friends, and birds, pain free. We have a long road ahead of us, fundraising wise, and they have longer still to recover. But that days there. It’s at the end of the tunnel. And I believe we, as a community, can get Llama out of that tunnel and into the sun.
